Gratitude

I woke up this morning and I'm touched by a deep gratitude in my heart. Grateful for my breathe that rises and falls in my chest. Grateful for the gentle warmth of the spring sunshine as it streams through my window and touches my face whilst I'm sitting here typing this blog. Grateful for the chance to live another day full of possibility. To meet the unknown as it comes towards me.

Life is a moment by moment discovery of what was only a second ago unknown and is now unfolding before us. Gratitude is such a powerful thing and if you use it as a practise it can transform your experience, your perspective from one of lack to one overflowing with abundance. It grows exponentially every time you notice another reason to be grateful.

Maybe it's easy to be grateful if you have just been given a sports car for your birthday or you've just won the lottery. However to feel the deep swell of gratitude filling your heart just because you are alive today, still breathing, your heart beating, blood coursing through your veins, this is a practise that will enrich your life a thousand-fold every day.

And from a place of gratitude and abundance there is the real possibility of being able to give. Being able to offer something just by being yourself. What is naturally overflowing as a gratitude for life becomes the source of your contribution to the world. “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” (William A Ward)
